PSAS/ news/ 2003-12-13 - Suck on foam with the VNA, remeasure the slot antennas, measure the reference dipoles Teflon test?

Pre-lab:

  1. Timr adds a pass-through to the bell jar base plate (done)
  2. Glenn makes final balun for slot (not done)
  3. Tim makes a flat Teflon-dielectric CPA (not done)

Need to bring/have:

  1. Bell jar, base, CPA's, vacuum pump, power strip, hoses, avionics module - Andrew
  2. All reference dipoles and new slot balun - Glenn
  3. Patch cords, automotive vacuum gauge - Timr
  4. Teflon gluing process? teflon-dielectric flat CPA? - Tim

The test plan:

  1. Suck tests
    1. Test Wifi CPA in bell jar at room pressure.
    2. Suck on Wifi: as many points as possible, at least 0, 35,000ft, vacuum. Then go down to look for hysteresis. How fast does the foam expand and contract? How long until it stabilizes?
    3. Suck on GPS as above.
    4. Suck on ATV as above.
  2. Slot antennas
    1. f0/SWR on WiFi slot
    2. f0/SWR on GPS slot
    3. f0/SWR on ATV slot
  3. Dipoles
    1. f0/SWR on WiFi dipole
    2. f0/SWR on ATV dipole

If there's time left:

  1. Do some crude propogation tests on WiFi and ATV slots using reference dipoles.
  2. f0/SWR on Teflon CPA.
