PSAS/ news/ 2003-05-13 - General Meeting: Ixnay summer, aim for 9/19 in Nevada; Need USENIX help

No go on summer launch; rescheduled for September in Nevada

LV2's avionics just aren't ready for a June/July launch, so we've officially cancelled any summer launch. Instead, we'll plan on launching at the "BALLS" 2003 amateur rocketry event held in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada the weekend of September 19-21, 2003. We'll be meeting in July in order to start organizing that effort.

PSAS presentation and exhibit at USENIX 2003

A paper written by James, Andrew, Jamey and Dave C. was accepted for publication in USENIX 2003, a computer sciences / UNIX / Linux conference being held in San Antonio, TX. Andrew will be presenting the paper, and Brian will be hauling the rocket, launch tower and other equipment down for a full demo. It's a great opportunity to show off our stuff to the CS community.

We're going to need a lot of help in the next month getting organized for the conference. In particular, we need people to help make posters (in electronic format), get the avionics system ready for display, and in general, get stuff done on the rocket for the conference.
