Master Count Down list

The Master count down checklist is broken into phases (Set-up, Prep, Count-down, count-up, tear down) for each of the teams involved (Tower, LCM, airframe, payload, avionics, site Ops)

PDX Prep

[] rent large tent (10x20)

[] Arrange camping and land use permissions

L minus one day

Tower

[] find suitable flat area on acess road to place tower
[] measure distance from Close-out area to tower (800 foot minimum)
[] Drop tower and support equipment on site
[] erect tower
[] Attach outriggers to tower for initial stabilization

Launch Control Module

[] Locate LCM at away site (approx 2 mi?)
[] Stabilize truck suspension
[] unpack LCM
[] Organize interior of LCM
[] Bring Generator on line
[] Bring up LCM computers, lights, and radios

Launch Site organization and layout

[] Place signs at intersections directing personnel to site
[] Place initial "information" sign at entrance to operations
[] Place porta-potties
[] mark critical areas with caution and danger tape
[] Set up tables, chairs, awnings, etc
[]Mark camping, spectator, parking, and restricted areas with sign

t minus 4 hours

Tower

[] Radio Check with LCM
[] Finish tower assembly
[] Raise and lower tower once as trial
[] power up tower computer
[] test fire ingiters from LCM

launch Vehicle

[] Radio check with LCM
[] Prep motor
[] Prep recovery system
[] prep airframe and launch lugs
[] integrate recovery system to airframe

Payload/Flight computer

[] Integrate FC to vehicle
[] Verify FC operation
[] Verify IMU operation
[] Verify DTMF operation
[] Verify Video operation
[] Verify tower to LCM datalink
[] Verify payload to LCM datalink
[] LCM participates in igniter test
[] Integrate payload into vehicle

Media and Spectators

[] Guide media and spectators to appropriate locations
[] Answer questions
[] Structure parking

T minus 2 hours

[] Integrate nosecone to vehicle
[] integrate vehicle to launch tower
[] test vehicle/launch rail slide

T minus 60

[]    _Tower_     Close-out crew falls back to safe zone
[]    _Tower_     Alert LCM if aircraft spotted in launch area

T minus 5 Minutes

[]    _LCM_     Arm systems

T minus 10 seconds

[]    _LCM_     ten second countdown to launch

[] _Ignition_
[]    _Tower_    Close-out crew activates Fire Supression plan
[]    _Tower_     Close out crew secures tower and pad to post-launch state
[]    _LCM_    Vehicle systems monitoring
[]    _LCM_    Manual sequencing of vehicle if necessary
[]    _LCM_    Dispatch recovery personnel to landing area
[]    _Media/Spectators_    Relay information to media and spectators
[]    _media/spectators_    Keep spectators from chasing after descending components of vehicle.
[]    _Recovery Team_    stand ready to supress fire at landing area.  Alert LCM to status at landing area.
