Hybrid Injector/Diffuser

The injector is really more of a diffuser since we are using a gas instead of a fluid oxidiser and there will be no significant pressure drop across it. The injector/diffuser made from a simple 1/4" NPT end cap. It has six 1/4" holes drilled on its vertical faces.

The principle goals of the selection were; to find something that would 1) diffuse the oxygen. 2) not cause a large pressure drop. 3) be inexpensive.

The injector/diffuser directs the oxygen so that it does not remain a high velocity jet firing down the central port of the paraffin grain. Since we are using gaseous oxygen for this motor atomization and mixing is not an issue that we will deal with.

The oxygen line is connected through the injector plate to the injector/diffuser via a Swagelok connector and is sealed with a Viton o-ring.
